Udhayanidhi is the grandson of the second Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and DMK chief M Karunanidhi. He was born on 27 November 1977 in Alwarpet, Madras, Tamil Nadu. He completed his schooling at Don Bosco School located in Egmore, Chennai. He then graduated in Commerce from Loyola College, Chennai in 1997.
He later ventured into the Tamil film industry as a film producer and actor. Stalin opened a film production and distribution company named Red Giant Movies in 2008. He makes his debut in the film industry as a producer from the Vijay starrer Tamil movie Kuruvi. He also produced films like Aadhavan (2009), Manmadan Ambu (2010), 7aum Arivu (2011), Neerparavai (2012), Vanakkam Chennai (2013), and Indian 2 (2023). Stalin also acted in many movies. During his career in the film industry, he was involved in the production of several successful movies.
In 2012, he made his debut in the movie Oru Kal Oru Kannadi with the role of Saravanan. Stalin won the SIIMA Award and Filmfare Awards-South for his role in the Best Male Debutant category.
