Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa is an Indian chess grandmaster who made it to the finals of the Fide Chess World Cup 2023, becoming the world’s youngest chess master. He completed his early education at Velammal Matriculation School Mogappair (Main), Chennai. He is 18 years old and has reached the Chess World Cup 2023 final. When Praggnanandhaa was just 4 years old, he started playing chess. He started playing chess to get rid of his sister’s TV addiction.
His sister R Vaishali is also a chess grandmaster. Both brother and sister started playing chess together from the very beginning. He won the Under 7 title at the national level for the first time. After that, Praggnanandhaa participated in the World Youth Chess Championship for the first time, performing brilliantly and winning the title. After winning the title, he received the title of FIDE Master.
Praggnanandhaa won the Under 10 title in 2013. In 2016 he became the youngest International Master in history at 10 years, 10 months, and 19 days. In 2017 he achieved his first grandmaster norm in the World Junior Chess Championship. He stood fourth with 8 points. He became India’s youngest Grandmaster at the age of 12.
