Chetan Sakariya is an Indian cricketer and a left-arm fast bowler. He was born on 28 February 1998 in a small village called Vartej located 180 km from Rajkot in the state of Gujarat. Although he was birth into a very poor family, he had big dreams. His father used to drive tempo to fulfill the needs of the family. Sakariya finished his schooling at Vidhya Vihar High School in his hometown Vartej.
His father always wanted him to be an engineer as every Indian father does whereas Sakariya had different plans for his future. Sakariya always wanted to be a cricketer although he was good at studies as well. His tuition and cricket fees were borne by his maternal uncle. In return for the fees, he used to work at his maternal uncle’s Bookstall shop on daily wages. There was no television at Sakariya’s home.
Whenever he wanted to watch cricket on television, he would either go to his friend’s home or outside any electronic showroom. During his school days, he used to play cricket for his school’s team. Meanwhile, he was also playing cricket at different levels. one day he was playing cricket for his school team in a district tournament when he caught the attention of one of the coaches of a well-known cricket academy in his city, Rajendra Goyal.
To hone his cricketing skills, he joined that academy later on. In Saurashtra junior cricket team, he played well, however, he could not get the opportunity to play under the 16s Saurashtra team. Due to consistency in his performance eventually, he got the chance to play for Saurashtra under 19s team. During his cricketing days, he did not have enough money to purchase a pair of shoes.
His friend Sheldon Jackson, who used to play cricket with him for Saurashtra, bought a pair of shoes for him. He made his debut in the Vijay Hazare trophy on February 22, 2018, against Baroda. While playing for Saurashtra in that match, he took two wickets for 73 runs after bowling 10 overs.
The same year on November 20, 2018, he played his first-class cricket in Ranji Trophy for Saurashtra in which he bagged five wickets in the first inning and a total of 6 wickets in that match against Karnataka. Next year in February he made his debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in which he picked one wicket.
In 2017, he joined the MRF Pace Foundation, where the director of the foundation was Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath. In one of his interviews, Chetan said that
“I gave trials and impressed Glenn [McGrath] sir with my nippy pace and natural swing. He told me if I worked on my action and fitness, I could add another 5kph to my pace and be a 130kph bowler. He said if I could do that, I could at least play at the Ranji Trophy level.”
After getting the training in MRF Pace Foundation he played for Saurashtra in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Ranji Trophy with excellent bowling performance. Where he took 18 wickets in 6 matches, taking a total of 6 wickets in a match against Karnataka. In 2021, he also got the chance to play T20 for Saurashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he made his T20 debut on 21 February 2019.

Chetan caught the attention of IPL teams with his performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In the IPL auction, the Rajasthan Royals team made a bid of ₹1.4 crores to join their team. He used to bowl on the net for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ipl2020 season before joining Rajasthan. He made his debut against Punjab Kings on 12 April 2021 after joining Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021.
