Bishan Singh Bedi was born on September 25, 1946, in Amritsar, Punjab, India. He grew up in a middle-class Sikh family, and his love for cricket was evident from a young age. He attended Saint Francis School, in Amritsar, and completed his graduation at Hindu College, Amritsar where he honed his cricketing talents, and his performances on the field soon caught the attention of selectors.

Cricketing Career:

Bishan Singh Bedi was a left-arm orthodox spinner, known for his graceful and rhythmic bowling action. He made his Test debut for the Indian cricket team against England in 1967, and his talent was immediately recognized. Bedi had a remarkable ability to flight the ball and spin it prodigiously, making him a genuine match-winner for India.

During his international career, which spanned from 1967 to 1979, Bedi played a total of 67 Test matches, taking 266 wickets. He was part of the legendary Indian spin quartet, which also included Erapalli Prasanna, Srinivas Venkataraghavan, and Bhagwat Chandrasekhar. Together, they formed a formidable bowling unit that wreaked havoc on opposition batsmen.
